Musings from Founder and CEO, Thomas Hoffmann. At Campworks, like everywhere, we are entering a time period like no other. We are reckoning with our very existence as human beings. What work do we do? What is our creativity worth?
Technology has advanced to put us all in a very ornate box. A system of design that is, while well intentioned, failing us all in a massive way. Our cell phones keep us plugged in like a medicine to our anxiety. The houses we live in and the world we are developing harm us.
Our journey to design the NS-1 started with “Fuck your lights!” and ambitions to create a tool for the adventure of life. Not luxury. We believe in housing all your necessities within the box, so you can truly live outside of it.
Business is in opposition to creativity. It’s at odds with inclusivity. Business is the mechanism that is now pointing us all directly in the same direction.
We ask, when did we stop freeing others from what binds them?
What is freedom if so much of our world is a construction we live within?
Our musings are not without action. We have designed the NS-1 to house clean water and water filtration tools inside of your home. Our efforts leave the NS-1 cabin air cleaner than outside; we hope where you are has clean air.
Minimized pollutions and a fixation on good design principles simply isn’t enough for us. We question what the life is like for the builder of our NS-1. And dream about the users life as if it was the most brightly painted mosaic of our collective dreams.

Unwavering commitment to our dream is what fuels Campworks. Not gasoline. Not even solar electric.
